Ceremonies for the Grand River
Each month we hold a traditional Anishinaabe ceremony to speak, sing, and pray to the water. Like the Grand River Water Walk, these ceremonies are Indigenous-led, with support from all Nations. They take place year-round in all weather conditions, so please dress accordingly. Everyone is welcome to participate, including children.
Gather at 8:00 a.m. at Otterbein Kayak Launch in Kitchener. Please arrive on time to walk to the river together and smudge. Wear ceremonial regalia as your spirit calls; drums and shakers are also suggested.
See the list below for upcoming ceremonies. Visit our Facebook page for event details and changes/updates.
