Participants in a Grand River Water Ceremony

Ceremonies for the Grand River

Each month we hold traditional Anishinaabe ceremonies to speak, sing and pray to the water. Like the Grand River Water Walk, these ceremonies are Indigenous-led, with support from all Nations.

The ceremonies are held once per month on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. (meet in the Grand River parking lot across from Freeport Hospital). Please visit our Facebook page to confirm the date each month. We meet year-round; all are invited to participate, including children. Please wear appropriate ceremonial regalia as your spirit calls, as well as sturdy footwear. Ceremonial tobacco, drums, and shakers are also suggested.
